PROJECT 01 / PAPERLESS HR ONBOARDING

PPL

A working full-stack recreation of a paperless hiring and onboarding platform designed around high-volume HR workflows.

01 / OVERVIEW

A paper process turned into software.

PPL is a modern portfolio recreation of an HR onboarding system I originally built for a company managing high-volume hiring. The original process depended heavily on paper applications, physical employee files, manual follow-up, and staff moving information between disconnected steps.

The goal was straightforward: make the hiring process digital from the moment a candidate enters the system and give HR a single place to manage the information that follows.

02 / WHAT IT DOES

One workflow from applicant to employee.

  • Create and manage candidates through a structured hiring workflow.
  • Move applicants through interview, testing, hiring, and onboarding stages.
  • Centralize employee and applicant records for HR staff.
  • Update records without maintaining parallel paper files.
  • Support automated interview and testing reminders.
  • Separate the HR management experience from the simpler candidate-facing workflow.

03 / TECHNOLOGY

A modern recreation of the original system.

The portfolio version is being rebuilt as a modern full-stack application while preserving the business problem and workflow that made the original useful.

The original application used PostgreSQL and AWS. This portfolio recreation uses MySQL so the demo can be deployed cleanly on my current hosting environment. All people and records in the demo are fictional.

04 / WHY IT MATTERS

Software tied directly to operations.

This project represents the kind of work I enjoy most: understanding a manual business process, designing a practical system around the people who use it, deploying it, and continuing to support the workflow after launch.
